ISEPEI and UNDP Joint ICTs for DRR Workshop

ISEPEI in cooperation with the UNDP hosted successful ICT training workshop in 2015, expanding the initial project scope from water security to include disaster management and risk reduction. Professionals and decision-makers from all over the world convened at Central European University in July 2015 for the "Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction" workshop. UNEP Launches First MOOC on Marine Litter

Did you know that coastal countries produced 2.5 billion tons of waste in 2010, of which 275 million tons was plastic, the most abundant type of marine litter? 

UNEP is launching the first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on marine litter to raise awareness against marine litter and promote solutions to plastic pollution in our oceans.

The MOOC is offered in collaboration with the Open Universiteit in the Netherlands and incorporates case studies that will inspire leadership at all levels.

ISEPEI Showcased at Eye on Earth Summit in Abu Dhabi

At the recent Eye on Earth Summit (October 6-8 in Abu Dhabi), the ISEPEI Project, directed by CEU’s Viktor Lagutov was showcased in several sessions. Project Director Viktor Lagutov and Project Manager Emily Nilson were at the Summit representing ISEPEI, a project that came about as a result of the inaugural Eye on Earth Summit in 2011, where it was selected among several other notable project proposals for funding.

The Summit, focused on informed decision-making for sustainable development, aimed to stimulate international action to revolutionize how we collect, access, share, and use data and information to make real, tangible changes in the world. 

ISEPEI Celebrates Launch of Online Training Manual

After several months of preparation, development of partnerships, and collection of case studies, ISEPEI is excited to report the launch of the “ICTs for Water Security” training manual online at http://isepei.org/training-manual. The training manual was launched last week at the Eye on Earth Summit in Abu Dhabi (http://www.eoesummit.org/) during a side event led by UNEP’s Global Universities Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES).

Video Release: The ISEPEI Project

ISEPEI is proud to announce the release of its first video, produced by CEU. The video was filmed during ISEPEI’s 2015 ICT training events, “Making Information Talk and Technologies Work for Water Security” with support from UNEP and UNOOSA, and “Innovations in Disaster Risk Management” in joint cooperation with UNDP. 

The video was showcased at the Special Initiative booths at the Eye on Earth Summit.
