CEU and UNDP continue their professional training program through the ISEPEI project focussing on the recent advances in information and communication technologies (ICTs). The workshop will assess how these advances are empowering both decision-makers and citizens to play a proactive role in managing disaster risk and providing a more effective response.

Dr Alan Belward (JRC) joins 2017 courses

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) confirmed contributing to ISEPEI courses in 2017. Dr Alan Belward, the Head of the Knowledge for Sustainable Development & Food Security Unit, will run a day long session within the course on "Geospatial Technologies for Sustainable Water Management" on July 3-7th.  Dr Belward already participated to similar ISEPEI's courses in 2016 with a series of very succesfull presentations and practical exercises on remote sensing and sattelite technologies.

ISEPEI Announces Call for Applications for 2017 Summer Workshops

ISEPEI has opened the Call for Applications for its upcoming "Bridging ICTs and Environment" workshops in July 2017. The events aim to improve data-driven decision-making by keeping professionals worldwide up-to-date on the latest advances in information and communication technologies (ICTs) and their potential use in a wide variety of public policy applications.

ISEPEI is proud to announce the release of our new video, produced by CEU, summarizing last year workshop experience. The video was filmed during the ISEPEI’s 2016 ICT training “Innovations in Disaster Risk Management” conducted in cooperation with UNDP. Based on both UNDP and other DRR expert's experience, this workshop highlighted recent innovative advances in ICTs and how they are empowering both decision-makers and citizens in managing disaster risks and providing more effective disaster response.

Towards sustainable development through geospatial technologies and remote sensing

July 4, 2016 marked the beginning of the "Geospatial technologies and remote sensing for monitoring SDGs" summer workshop. Organized by Syslab within the ISEPEI Project in cooperation with CEU SUN, UNOOSA, DG Joint Research Centre and ESRI, the workshop aims to provide in-service education and professional training for environmental decision-makers and practitioners, who are in a position to greatly benefit from this data revolution to better shape management strategies and to make more informed, data-driven decisions.

JRC and CEU Initiate Scientific Cooperation

Followed by the signing of MoU, CEU Environmental Systems Laboratory in cooperation with JRC is organizing summer workshops run through the ISEPEI project. JRC experts will contribute to “Geospatial Technologies and Remote Sensing for Monitoring SDGs” and “Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction” workshops, by presenting latest programs’ impact on monitoring of multilateral environmental agreements, Global Human Settlement Layers, as well as innovative and concrete tools for implementing Sendai Indicators.
