Syed Fawad Raza
Biography
Mr. Fawad Raza is an enthusiastic and focused professional in the food security and spatial analysis industry, with a proven ability to design and implement solutions to meet technical and business challenges. He got more than 12 years of national as well as international experience in data analysis particularly spatial data analysis using GIS and remote sensing related tools with a primary focus on food security assessment design using innovative technologies like smart phones and mapping during emergencies.
Some of the global emergencies, he responded, include Syria Regional Crisis, 2013-Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) Philippine, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Monsoon Floods in Pakistan, 2009 IDP Crisis in Pakistan, 2008 NARGIS Cyclone Myanmar, 2007 Yemyin Cyclone Pakistan, 2007 Cyclone SIDR Bangladesh, 2007 Monsoon floods Bihar India and 2005 Earthquake Pakistan.
He is honored with “Young Professionals Award 2013” at Innovative Ideas to Feed the World Conference organized by FAO in Rome. WFP also acknowledged the services of his team through honoring with “WFP Global Award of Marit 2010” for the excellent response during flood emergency in Pakistan that year. He also presented his research contributions at various international fora and conferences.
He is currently working as IM/GIS Officer for the Syrian Regional Crisis at World Food Programme office in Amman, Jordan.
