Viktor Lagutov Represents ISEPEI Project at Eye on Earth Water Security meeting in Amman, Jordan

November 25, 2014

ISEPEI (“In Service ICT Training for Environmental Professionals”), the joint project of the Global University Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES) and Central European University led by Dr. Viktor Lagutov, is being represented at the Regional Network Meeting on Water Data and Knowledge Sharing for the Water Security Special Initiative of the Eye on Earth Summit.

The ISEPEI project was launched to bridge the gap between policy makers and ICT technologies through a series of training workshops, the first of which was in 2014, and toolkits illustrating the potential application of ICTs in various environment and public policy-related fields, e.g. water security and disaster management. The project and the affiliated workshops are being conducted as preparatory activities for the Eye on Earth Summit, taking place in Abu Dhabi in October 2015.

Water Security is one of the 8 Special Initiatives that make up the Eye on Earth initiative. The Water Security Regional Network Meeting is taking place 25 to 27 November 2014 in Amman, Jordan and involves water security stakeholders from around the world. The meeting aims to engage stakeholders and facilitate knowledge exchange relating to the data and knowledge gaps within water security and the required tools to share information.

ISEPEI is conducting its second workshop on water security in July 2015 through CEU’s Summer University. This workshop features faculty from UNEP, the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, Esri, and AGEDI. More information can be found here.
